AstroAum exists to make authentic Vedic astrology (Jyotish) accurate, transparent, and easy to understand. This page explains exactly how our tools compute their results and how our written interpretations are produced — so you can judge the quality of what you read here for yourself.
Astronomical calculations
Every planetary position on AstroAum is computed with the high-precision astronomical ephemeris, the same high-precision astronomical engine used by professional astrology software worldwide. It derives the exact longitudes of the Sun, Moon, the five visible planets, and the lunar nodes (Rahu & Ketu) for any date, time, and place of birth.
Because Vedic astrology is sidereal (measured against the fixed stars), we apply the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa — the sidereal standard adopted by the Government of India's Calendar Reform Committee. This is what distinguishes Vedic (Nirayana) positions from the Western (Sayana) zodiac, and it is applied consistently across the whole site: Kundli, Dashas, divisional charts, Nakshatras, Panchang, transits, and horoscopes.
Interpretation & classical sources
Raw positions are only the beginning. Our interpretations follow established Jyotish principles — planetary dignity (exaltation, debilitation, own-sign), house lordship, aspects (drishti), yogas, and the Vimshottari Dasha timing system. Where relevant we draw on classical texts, chiefly the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, along with widely used works such as Phaladeepika and Saravali for specific combinations.
For readability, we use AI to turn these rule-based conclusions into clear, plain-language explanations. AI is an editorial aid — the astrological logic is grounded in the calculations and textual rules above, not invented. Reference pages (for example, planet-in-sign and Nakshatra profiles) are anchored to the factual dignity and attributes of each combination so that no two pages say the same thing.
Authorship & review
Content is written and reviewed by the AstroAum editorial team — practitioners and researchers of Vedic astrology. We update pages as calculations, transit dates, and our own understanding improve. Each paid report carries a report ID on its cover — quote it to support@astroaum.in and we find your report.
Honesty about what astrology is
We hold ourselves to plain honesty. AstroAum does not publish fabricated review counts, ratings, or user numbers, and our guidance is delivered by AI tools — not human astrologers posing as live experts. Astrology is offered for reflection, cultural understanding, and entertainment. It is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice, and we never ask anyone to make such decisions based on a chart.
